PCD Cup Wheels
We stock a large range of diamond PCD cup wheels, from 4" /100mm to 7"/175mm.
PCD cup wheels (Poly Crystalline Diamond) feature extremely large diamond particles for fast removal of thick and sticky compounds like paint, epoxy, mastic, adhesives, urethane and residues. They are more aggressive and longer lasting than standard diamond cup wheels.
They are commonly used when conventional diamond cups will not grind the material quick enough or they tend to get clogged up. PCD cup wheels will not load up or smear the coating like a conventional diamond cup wheel, but do leave a rougher finish.
PCD cup wheels will leave the surface very rough - ideal if you are applying another compound.
The more diamonds, the less aggressive they will be.
But if you want a smoother surface, look at our Spiky or Sprinter cup wheels (seperate page).
On PCD cup wheels, more diamonds mean a higher initial price.
Can be used dry on power tools and wet/dry if used on a walk behind floor grinder.
Note - When workers cut, crush, drill, polish, saw or grind products that contain silica, particles are created, which are one-hundredth of the size of a grain of sand. These can get stuck deep in the lungs. Ensure precautions to limit exposure to dust are in place.
Use a half face respirator or a PAPR (Powered air purifying respirator).

Remember - every job is different. The enormous combinations of different types of surfaces, different cup wheel styles, with many different bonds and grits, plus different machines and varied operator experience means it is impossible to guess what will give the perfect result the first time. Some experimentation is often necessary to achieve the required results.
