Finally, a faster and an easier way to install a puddle flange.

Prior to waterproofing the wet area of a bathroom, shower or laundry, all plumbing penetrations through the reinforced flooring (concrete or Magboard) require the installation of a Puddle Flange to increase waterproofing.

The Puddle Buddy tool has been designed to provide a uniform and even recess around the hole, which simplifies and enhances the installation of the Puddle Flange.

The innovative Puddle Buddy has been designed and built in Australia as a Plumber's tool and is covered by Patent #2021240169.

It features a 6 x #40 Grit soft bond diamond segments suitable for most surfaces, including concrete and reinforced flooring (Magboard). Diamond segments last longer than vacuum brazed diamonds .

It has a 22.23mm bore size and can be used with a standard 230mm (9") Angle Grinder.

Usage Instructions

• Mark location of the hole on floor.
• Drill 152mm diameter hole, using a 152mm OD hole saw or core bit.
• Securely attach the Puddle Buddy tool to your 230mm Angle Grinder (see safety instructions)
• Insert the central guide pipe into the pre-drilled hole making sure that the angle grinder is parallel to the floorboard.
• With the diamond grinding segments 5mm above the cutting surface, start the angle grinder and slowly lower till the Puddle Buddy engages with the floor. Keep the tool perpendicular to the surface at all times.
• Grind out the required recess around the hole to suit the Puddle Flange depth (see manufacturers specifications).
• Check that the recess is approx. 3mm to 4mm deep, uniformly around the circumference.
• Clean up the area then install the Puddle Flange.

Safety Instructions

• It is essential to always wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
  Safety glasses or goggles; gloves; dust mask; ear muffs; safety boots.
• Always check first to make sure 230mm Angle Grinders are allowed on your job work-site.
• Ensure your angle Grinder has a safety guard installed and preferably a flexible dust boot.
• To assist with removal of Puddle Buddy tool after use, instal the flat rubber washer supplied between the tool and the grinder.
• Always check the integrity of the six diamond grinding segments before each use.

Care Instructions

• Keep your equipment clean.
• After each use of the grinder, disconnect power and brush or wipe off dust.
• Tip back the grinder, remove Puddle Buddy tool and wipe off the segments.
• Inspect diamond grinding segments and guard, make sure screws and bolts are in place and tightened.

Note - When workers cut, drill, polish, saw, crush or grind products that contain silica, particles are created, which are one-hundredth of the size of a grain of sand. These can get  stuck deep in the lungs. Ensure precautions to limit exposure to dust are in place. 
Use a half face respirator or a PAPR (Powered air purifying respirator).
